EMERIGE, WINNER OF “REINVENTER PARIS” WITH MORLAND MIXITE CAPITALE
Emerige has won the “Réinventer Paris” competition for innovative urban projects with the real-estate complex Morland. The group represents the Societé Parisienne du Nouvel Arsenal (SPNA), specifically created for the “Morland Mixité Capitale” project, which has a total floor area of 43,492 square meters and is designed to fulfill to the following major requirements:
– a place of culture open to the public
– able to accommodate various uses
– architectural transformation of the building whilst respecting it
– technological innovation and eco-responsibility
– the creation of a green lung
Morland Mixité Capitale, designed in partnership with David Chipperfield Architects and the artistic intervention of Olafur Eliasson in the Studio Other Spaces on the 15th and 16th floors of the tower, aims to become a lively place open to the citizens of Paris, combining different uses: accommodation with some social housing, some intermediary housing and some rent-to-own housing; a youth hostel with 404 beds operated by France Hostels (francehostels.fr); a hotel with 147 rooms and suites developed in partnership with the group AccorHotels under its SO/Sofitel brand; some convenience stores, a food market in partnership with Terroirs d’Avenir, who already have an established boutique in rue du Nil in Paris (terroirs-avenir.fr); a cultural space acting as an artistic laboratory, called the “Paris Art Lab”; a fitness space/swimming pool; some offices; a kindergarten with 66 cradles, which will be ran by BtoBaby; some urban farming spaces, and gardens that combine recreational, agricultural, and landscaping uses.
The design team is made up of landscaping agency Michel Desvigne Paysagiste and French architecture agency CALQ Architecture. The landscaping intervention is also accompanied by an urban farming project designed by Sous Les Fraises (souslesfraises.com).
The artistic program of the “Paris Art Lab” is designed together with Marc-Olivier Wahler, the director and founder of the Chalet Society in Paris. Other collaborators on this project include: architect collective Encore Hereux (encoreheureux.org), designing the strategy for the re-use of materials; ALTO Ingénierie as sustainability consultants; Bollinger & Grohmann as façade consultants; SOMETE as specialist structural engineering consultants; MDS Consulting as fire safety consultants, and SOCOTEC, acting as control office.
“Morland Mixité Capitale” is a conscious and learning complex. WIth this goal in mind, the SPNA is working together with the company Ubiant (ubiant.com), an innovative French start-up who designs and develops “environmental intelligence” solutions for connected buildings and objects.
